Kaukauna announced nonrenewal while deactivation and removal were underway

The July 8 city announcement separates the reported June contract expiration from the work still needed to deactivate and remove equipment.

What the city announced

Kaukauna’s July 8, 2026 announcement says the city chose not to renew its Flock contract, which expired in June. It describes the previous arrangement as a three-year contract begun in June 2023 for six plate readers. The announcement is the city’s account of that contractual history; the signed contract and nonrenewal notice are not independently verified here. [1]

What was still underway

Police Chief Jamie Graff says the city was working with Flock to deactivate and remove the equipment. That wording does not establish that either step had finished on July 8 or remains unchanged today. The statement gives privacy concerns and a reduced ability to partner with nearby communities as reasons for nonrenewal. It does not independently verify another municipality’s security conditions.
